Podcast: Volunteering With the Riding for the Disabled Association

  • Posted: 15 November 2021

RDA poniesBack in 2019 I started volunteering with Wellington & Dummer Riding for the Disabled Group. It's been a hugely rewarding experience and I'd like to share more about it with you all.

In this podcast episode I talk about signing up as a volunteer, the training in leading a pony, side walking with a rider and what we usually get up to.

The one thing that struck me is the RDA strapline 'It's what you can do that counts'. This isn't just for riders and members, it's also so relevant to the volunteers.

If you find yourself with a couple of hours to spare I urge you to have a look at the RDA website and check out their supportive volunteer training programme and contact your local group!

Huge thank you to Wellington & Dummer RDA for having me, it's a great team to be involved with and it means so much to me to be trusted with supporting our riders and cuddling our ponies. x
